It doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner or someone looking to improve your knowledge and ability, education and tuition is the key to getting the band to ‘play together’ and can produce wonderful results. Our members range in age from early teens to long since retired – everyone is welcome.
We welcome all new members of any skill level, beginner to experienced player. We assist all our members with training programs for both music theory and practice. And we encourage all our members to attend any training sessions that are available including summer school and the band camps run during school holidays.
What do I need to get started?
You don’t need to buy anything (chanter or drum sticks) before coming along to a practice, we provide drums and drum sticks and practice pads, and have chanters the pipers can borrow. When your ready to purchase your own chanter or bagpipes we can advise you on the best brand for you and where they can be purchased from. When your ready to turn out with the band we will provide you with a uniform.
Where and when?
Come and talk to us at The City of Manukau Pipes & Drum’s practices on Wednesday evenings at the Mangere Mountain Memorial Hall Domain Rd, Mangere Village, 7:00pm – 9:00pm
Call and ask and of the band officers for further information.
